I had posted a blog entry on Mother's Day and to give a fair credit to my dad and all dads around the world, I would dedicate this post to them, the breadwinner of a family (maybe not all).

It's weird for me to celebrate Mother's Day, let alone the not-so-famous Father's Day. Nevertheless, I would like to thank my dad for supporting me throughout the years amid some financial hardship. Thank you, daddy.

Today, I came across this advertisement by Nike, which as usual, awesome. It is just full of stars, not just football ones but also Tennis' Roger Federer and Basketball's Kobe Bryant. Just looking at the huge cast excites me. For those who don't know football, you can just enjoy the action.


First, we get to see Didier Drogba running pass many players before his imminent goal was kicked out by Fabio Cannavaro. Cannavaro, already a celebrity now got even famous, with the video depicts him smiling broadly onstage.


Then, there is this second part, which is my favourite. Wayne Rooney was dribbling and his pass at the final minutes was intercepted by Frank Ribery. He then imagined his future which looks so loser and decided not to let that failure happen. He run half the field and tackled Ribery and the video follows the knighting of Sir Rooney and the booming of UK economy (as contrast to the fall earlier). Rooney hugged the Queen. LOLx Babies named after him, Federer losses a table tennis match against him. All just so funny.


The video then switch to Ronaldinho and his footwork on the pitch, transformed into an international dance step (like and imitate by fans) and also a Samba-robics exercise dance. Ordering is available through TV marketing and we get to see Ronaldinho's famous hand gesture, ringing the phone. Even Kobe Bryant does those steps when he basket a ball in a NBA match.


Following that is a passing to Christiano Ronaldo and it flashed to the future having a stadium named after him and a movie made based on his story. There is also a short Simpson part featuring Ronaldo. Back to the pitch, he was brought down in the penalty area and prepares to take a shot.


The video depicts the future of footballers which the World Cup could bring them and Nike, an excellent marketer as always, showed how their shoes can help these superstars fulfill their dreams.

Let's face it, only one will win the cup and Rooney won't be an Old Trafford groundsman if he did not win the Cup. It is also very less likely he will be knighted if he wins. Even he admit its, "Personally, playing football, I don't think you should become a "Sir", to be honest. There are other people doing things in the world who deserve it a lot more."


But, let's not forget about Devil's legend Sir Bobby Charlton, who was knighted 28 years after he help bring the Cup to England. As a supporter of England, I hope they will win the cup and let's see how it will affect the life of Sir Wayne Rooney.

Many of the online users might have known about Facebook Share which I had been using since my last blog. Recently, Facebook came out with a new widget, the Facebook Like.

What's the difference? The function is actually the same with only the process of sharing it on your Facebook profile is different. With the Facebook Share, readers would need to click on the Share Button and a new window pops out. Then one is required to click share to post the link on his or her Facebook wall. As for the new feature, those who browse a page will need to just click on the Like Button and that's all. =.= You will get to see someone liking a web page on his or her wall.

One disadvantage of this new widget is that one is unable to share his opinion while posting the link, which can be done through Facebook Share. But in my personal opinion, if a person wanted to share his or her thought, they would just blast it out on their wall, with or without the help or the sharer widget.

Now I had switched from Share Button to the new Like Button as it is really more convenient for users. I wanted to implement it on the day it was launched but was deemed redundant at that time (still feel redundant now). But today, after analysing the benefit and downside of each widget, I finally made the decision to remove the old Share Button and replace it with the brand new widget.

The following is how the widget works:


First when you visited the page, you will see a Like Button (The 1st and 2nd Like Button in the picture above, depending whether anyone had Like it before you do) below the post.

The 3rd Like Button above is shown when you click it. The 4th and 5th Button is the result of your support (by Like-ing). You are able to click it again to remove your Like. But please don't do this as it is not polite to take back what you had given out. =.= You will also get to see if any of your friends had Like this post before you do.

The end result? Your friends in Facebook will be able to see the posts you Like on your wall, thus sharing it to the world. ^^ One example below:

Tomorrow, the Manchester United team will go down the field not just battling their dream to gain the Premiership for the fourth consecutive time but also the dream of a young undergraduate who going to UK soon, me.


An avid fan of the Red Devils since I was 11 years old, I am really looking forward for a visit to the holy land of the team, Old Trafford. But, my visit there would not be the most memorable one this time around as I have to visit the stadium without cabinet filled with Champions League and FA Cup trophy. And now, the Reds is trying to cross the finish line that will give me a chance to see a more substantial trophy than a League Cup.


The team will only give me the chance to see a nice trophy there if they win tomorrow at Stoke and somehow Chelsea fucked up and unable to win at Wigan. Although quite unlikely but football is bloody hell. I hope it will be bloody hell again after 11 years and give me a value tour to the stadium.

I am definitely going to OT during my stay at UK and not that I will feel less enthusiastic if they did not win it. Just hoping to see one extra trophy without having to travel to London. Win or not, I will be always their fan, maybe not the biggest but part of the biggest. Go Manchester United.

Coming soon is the annual Mother's Day. =.= Seems weird saying it this way~~ Nevertheless, it is a day where good and bad sons and daughters come together to celebrate the sacrifices made by our beloved mothers. Although I feel hard to express my love to my mother but I hope she knows that I love her always. Finally created a page in Facebook trying to spread this blog to increase popularity. The blog has been constantly bringing about 10 unique visitors per day but most of them are returning visitors. Although I should be happy with many of my loyal readers, but I still want more people to come and enjoy my writings. The more the merrier they said.

Normally when we talk Oscar, it's about a stupid statue of glory presented to actors. I don't think you need a statue to justify one as an excellent actor. But I am not talking Academy Award Oscar today. I had just read about a kitty named Oscar again recently. The first time I read this was in The Star newspaper few months back and I see it again in a Chinese magazine today.

This cat was made famous by Dr. David Dosa through the New England Journal of Medicine in 2007. This cat is able to predict death by sleeping near a patient. Scary right? It's prediction is with 100% accuracy.


But this cute little grim reaper doesn't seems to receive bad treatment from the people it sleep near to. Well, it lives in a hospital, people there are going to die some time, some how and family members had prepared for the worst case scenario. Oscar actually help alert family members to be at the bedside of those who going to leave the world. A last reunion is something really important and with the help of this little kitty, I think most people will thank it rather than get it out of the room. 


Maybe it can sniff out some air that we human can't smell coming from those who are going to leave the world and doing its job to provide companionship to patients who are leaving. It is also suggested in the NEJM article that it hiss when approach by a lady who her time had not reach yet. So, it just know who is going to die, not bringing death.


Luckily my cat do not have that ability, or else I might had died long ago with my cats love to curl around me while I am sleeping. But if I am really going to die, I would rather a kitty bringing me to the afterlife than the conventional grim reaper. 

Today is a public holiday of the state of Melaka, with the people here got a day off celebrating Melaka being conferred Historical City status. I was given a chance to promote Melaka in an essay but was not able to write much due to time constraint. I also don't even know who marked my paper for the SHU English test. Hopefully one of the Brits. I will introduce Melaka here as my first informational post. Enjoy. ^^

The history of Melaka spanning for over 600 years, beginning before the western nations start colonizing Asian countries for the raw materials. After 600 years and the "land title" switches hand a few times between several nations, what is left are beautiful landmarks that witness the happenings over the years.


As a tourist enter Malaysia, Melaka is a must go destination and the Porta de Santiago of the A' Famosa fortress would be top of the list. The arch to enter the St Paul's Hill area is the longest standing building in the state. Built by the Portuguese after conquering the state, it is the only structure left standing out of the whole fortress. Around that area would also be the location of St Paul's Church, Christ Church and more than 20 museums.


Another attraction that is just a 5 minutes drive away is the St John's Fort. Build atop Bukit Pipi, it is a fort build by the Dutch to protect themselves against intruding Johoreans. The much less visited landmark is distinct as eight of of nine of the cannons are facing inland. Now the little hill is a good jogging area for the Malaccan people.


A few minutes drive will bring you to a Chinese Temple, the Poh San Teng. It is named after the Bukit Chinese behind it. History says that the temple was actually first built by the Kapitan of Melaka as a resting place for the Chinese that visited the graves on top of the hill. The temple also has a statue of Admiral Cheng Ho who is ironically a Muslim. Chinese believes that one can gain luck by touching the tummy , hat and sword of the statue. There are also two famous wells to be visited here.


Got bored of visiting historical sites, tourists enjoy a night market that is held on weekends in Jonker Street. The road is closed for the evening of weekends for hawkers to put their stuffs for sale. A walk down the street will amaze the tourists with handicrafts, antiques and local delicacies. Look out for events and performance during festive seasons.


Just a street down would be a unique street in Melaka, the Harmony Street or previously known as Jalan Tukang Besi. Here one can find the place of worship for the Chinese, Indian and Malays. The Cheng Hoon Teng is a place of worship for three distinct religion, Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Walking further down that particular street, one can see the Kampong Kling Mosque and Sri Poyyatha Vinayagar Moorthi Hindu Temple standing side by side. This represented the harmonious society of Malaccan and Malaysian.


Another place of worship would be the oldest Catholic church in Malaysia, the St Peter's Church, which had just celebrated its 300th anniversary.


As tourists tour around Melaka, food is nothing they need to worry about. Melaka is a heaven for those who craved for food. From the Baba Nyonyas to the Portuguese Eurasians, each race have their own signature dishes to show. First stop, the Nyonya food. Some of the special food on offer are Itik Dim, Sambal Petai and Masak Lemak. One can also try Portuguese food at the Portuguese Settlement, which includes many types of spicy food. A choice for a good supper would be the Satay Celup, while I personally don't suggest people to try the Chicken Rice Balls.


Melaka is a heaven for tourist. Tourists that come to the state will get to go home and feel satisfied the the value gained from the numbers spent.

Greetings from me to all who visited this blog I had just created. Although it is still a work-in-progress, but I will start to blog here from today, bringing my previous blog to a premature end after just 3 months.

At first, I wanted to use this blog as a diary to share my daily life from now until the days in United Kingdom, but subsequently I decided to replace my old blog with it. My previous blog had just become weird with serious posts accompanied by cute layout. With the new blog layout look more "professional", I would be able to mix my posts between serious opinion talks and daily pictorial writings.

The title for now would be "Journey to the West" as to describe my coming journey to study in Sheffield Hallam University, UK. The name is similar to the Chinese folklore about Monkey King's troop to the west in Tibet to obtain scrolls about Buddhist teachings. I am using the name as title for now as comparison to the tale whereby I, with companionship if my course-mates, would be embarking in a journey to the west to obtain the scrolls of academic excellence. In short, to obtain a degree.

From time to time after that, I will change the title to suit the happenings in my life. Hopefully this blog portal can survive longer than any of my previous blogs. Looking forward to writing more posts and interactions with my readers.
