After Ip Man 2 on Monday, my friends and I went for Kick-Ass on Tuesday. Same venue, different time. This time, it was not me that is disappointed, it's everybody except me. LOL
Kick-Ass is totally my kind of movie. Witty and illogical. Moreover, the people who starred in the movie attracts me, namely Nicholas Cage (as Big Daddy).
The story portrays a nobody who wanted to help people, in the wrong manner in my perception. He becomes a superhero without superpower after his heroic action was caught on phone and posted on Youtube. Well, it had not gone that well. He was stabbed by thugs and rammed by a car before his second encounter made him famous.
Forget the main character Kick-Ass, I am more interested in Big Daddy and Hit-Girl (13-year-old Chloe Grace Moretz). They were the really cool ones. The dad being a "superhero" on a revenge mission against a drug lord and the pretty young lad following his footsteps. Got shot by own dad as training and wanting knives for birthday present, Hit-Girl is certainly one special little lady.
Although seems illogical, the story is quite cool with obscene words uttered (uncensored) and some bloody hell of... blood. We got to see Bazookas, knife-throwing, jet-pack equipped with Gatling and some ass-kicking moves. I really just like the bloods and pain inflicted on the bad guys by Hit Girl, who kills with a smiling face. ^^ She's cute, maybe too young.
The story goes on with the bad guy's son become Red Mist and blended in to gain the superheros' trust and bring them in. The story reach its climax with the death of Big Daddy and finished off with Frank D'Amico (the baddie) blasted off by a Bazooka in the skyline of the metropolis.
It is a very daring move by the producers as the comic is quite new but it really let me hoping for a sequel. Looking forward to more vulgarities and bashing. Thumbs up from me. Recommended.
