This is a movie I had downloaded ages ago but only watch it as I have lesser choices. "Event Horizon" is marketed as a science fiction horror movie but for me it turned into pure fiction after the starting few minutes. You don't get to be a sci-fi by just flashing some scientific concepts and theories. =.=

The story is about a ship on a rescue mission to get another ship - the Event Horizon, which had disappear during its mission and reappear seven years later. The movie boosts quite a strong cast with its leading actor, Laurence Fishburne of the Matrix fame.

They eventually found the ship but with all its crew missing. Then, the unimagined happened and it seems the ship is a living object now. Mysterious events happen again and again and we get to see the rescue team members die one after another.

The creator of the Event Horizon also saw his wife, who is one of the missing crew, urging him to join them. The guy eventually follow them to the other dimension of the world.

In the movie, we also get to know that the Event Horizon is experimenting with the theory of bending the horizon of space and time, making travel in space faster. The ship is able to create a black hole in the movie (should be a worm hole to be scientific I think) and bring them to the other side of the universe.

The ship disappear to the other side all right, but the other side is hell. Literally hell. =.= That explains all the killings and other stuff happening on the ship, but logically how our souls travel so far after we die?
The lead man sacrifice himself to save his two crew members but in the end of the story, it might seems the horror will go on with the ship's door closing after a new rescue crew enters.
I won't say it is a bad movie but branding it as sci-fi is just ridiculous. The storyline also seems hollow. The thrilling effect is there but I think it is only worth your time if you have no other things to do. Thumbs down.
