From By-election To Owning And Betting

Most of you should know I am a BN supporter, but my this post might be siding the PR for a tiny bit, not on the political part but on the common sense part.

As in every by-election and general election, all the candidates' dark pasts and present misdeeds are surfaced. From the one known to the public to the most intimate ones. Some are truth and there are also lies. No wonder people suggest joining politics when your private investigator can't help on tracing your past. In the coming by-election in Hulu Selangor, PR candidate, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim seems to be bombarded all the time. More issues are brought up against him as compared to new face BN candidate, Kamal-Alan-Nathan.

People talk about his liberal lifestyle, past consumption of alcohol. But to counter it, PR supporters are trying to minimise its damage by saying Zaid has turned a new leaf. Yes, we should forgive him since he had changed. As a Catholic myself, we are always asked to forgive and forget. Most religions said this too. But, people who held religion up above their head are also bombarding him too. So well, its some bullshit.

The are also recent publication on his horse, named Kelantan, winning a horse race that pocketed him a large sum of prize money. People aligned this to him gambling, which is contrary to the teachings of Islam. Owning a horse that win races is gambling? I always thought that it was a high risk investment.

People who spread that owning a winning horse is gambling is either naive or trying to convince the naive ones about Zaid's "misdeed". Horse racing had always been linked to gambling in Malaysia because it is the only legal sports gambling mechanism in the local market. If you say think this particular sport is haram, then you should stop supporting English football clubs as the betting on horse is the same as in football. The Glazers don't gamble on their fortune, they invest (and have a huge debt =.=). So football is as haram as in horse ownership. Stop supporting, its evil.

With the hype on the by-election, lies (some truths maybe) are being spread to bring bad public image to the poor (but rich) guy. One amusing thing is about a photoshoped picture of him holding a bottle of beer using a very innocent image below. Now there is even a Facebook Page for fans to submit fan photoshoped image. Some are just normal below par entry, but there are some nice ones (I like the root beer one, which is not quite a beer. LOL).


Well, it's politics and people are just trying to bad mouth him by linking drinking and gambling to his liberal approach to life. After all the writings above, I just want to say what a crap politic is. In the end, I may go to Kuala Kubu Bharu and support Alan, or is it Kamal? I thought it's a MIC candidate in Nathan. What the hell, just cross on the scales symbol when voting. =.=
