Yesterday went to Bukit Beruntung to have a first hand view of the Hulu Selangor by-election campaign with Nigel. The initial plan was to go for the polling and announcement of results today but Nigel felt that it would be more interesting seeing people campaigning, and he is right. Although we miss out on the PR's station, the grand finale of BN's machinery was awesome with the heavyweights arrive at this seemingly hollow part of Selangor.

After meeting with Nigel at PJ, where he is staying with Oscar, we started our journey after having our lunch. As both of us are newbies in the area, we had to rely on Oscar's GPS. The road towards deep inside the peninsular was quite okay initially before a big traffic jam entering the town of Rawang.

Just before that, Nigel found out that he forgot to bring his memory card for his camera. =.= Reporter blunder. We had to stop at few shops to ask for availability of SD card on sale. Rawang is really an outdated town, their SD cards sizes sold are mostly 512MB at about RM 50. =.= At last, I suggested we just take out Oscar's GPS memory card when we reach our destination.

We were greeted by BN flags as we entered Serendah, and posters bearing the faces of both candidates infected the whole area. Some banners are quite confrontational, while some bragged about what they had done for the rakyats.

Upon reaching the area where the campaign would be carried out, we went for a drink before searching for the exact location. Then, Nigel's continuing nagging about the petrol makes me worried the worst would happened and we eventually went to a gas station to avoid being out of fuel. =.= Petrol stations are among the local enterprises who got to earn big bucks due to the by-election. We had to queue for quite some time before it's our turn. We even got to see a troop of outriders refueling before continuing their job escorting the VIPs.

When we return to the area after refueling, we were caught in a massive jam with the VIPs arriving. We, or I, planned to go for the BN function as I am just a loyal BN supporter. They really didn't let me down, the speakers there was awesome, from grass root leaders to ex-Prime Minister. Those VIPs who were there yesterday are Tun Dr Mahathir, "Tan Sri" Najib (as he was addressed by one of the local leaders LOL), Ong Tee Keat, Muhyiddin, "froggy" Dr Halili and the most important of all, P Kamalanathan, the candidate.

One by one leaders from all the races give their speech, before it was concluded by Najib and Mahathir. Most speech are delivered energetically with the exception of the Chinese one, who had no ohm speaking and talked about social justice. =.= Najib and Mahathir both had powerful speeches with some jokes in between, especially on Anwar. Speaking about Anwar rise in the political scene and the desire to topple him, Mahathir said Anwar is good at "tikam belakang (poking fun at the sodomy cases) but "tak kena" him (referring the failure to topple his reign as 4th Malaysia Prime Minister). That brought laughter to the crowd who had not seen him campaigning for a long time.

After the BN function, I and Nigel went to the nearby PR camp but was disappointed that it had ended. We then return back to KL. I was tired, so Nigel took the driver's seat. Pity him as he had to endure the traffic jam and the darkness of the way home.

We stopped at Kepong to have a supper at Ka Ka's Bak Kut Teh before I take back the steering and send him home. Reached Taman Melati at 2AM something and took a nice long bath.
It was a really nice outing. The atmosphere was incredible knowing that although PR is gaining popularity, there are still many BN loyalists. Hopefully BN will win today. Hidup BN! Hidup 1Malaysia! (As I am writing this, rumours and surveys indicated otherwise. T.T)

We also encountered a cafe in that area named Salam 1Malaysia Cafe. Really nice design, both the logo and the interior of the cafe. Now, we have a BN related cafe to compete with Rocket United in PJ. LOLx
